Somethings I Like

Today I feel like blogging about a few products that I like.

1. Lean Cuisine Shrimp Alfredo:  While it could always use more shrimp, this is a very tasty meal with just the right amount of peas, pasta and broccoli!  Plus - it cooks in 5 minutes or so in the microwave!

2. Starbucks Gold Coast bold coffee:   I had a a cup of this today at my local Starbucks cafe and it is really good!  I judge Starbucks by the following criteria: Does this flavor give me heartburn?  Their Pike's coffee always gives me major heartburn every time I drink it!  I had about 1/2 of a Venti left and drank that iced with dinner.  MM MM Good!  (Used some french vanilla creamer in it!)

3. Cheap cereal and soda:  In the last few months my local Stop & Shop grocery store has started to carry a brand called Guaranteed Value with orange labels.  The cereals are $1 and the 3 liter sodas are also $1.  (Sodas are sometimes on sale for 89 cents!)  Cereal and diet sodas flavors are both limited but I love the Cocoa Krispy flavor cereal because you get chocolate milk at the end!

Thanks for reading - that's it for today!

Testing Something

After posting the previous entry I noticed that I lost my Ads (yes, the advertising) that were normally on the top and sides of the page.   In searching the help I have not found an answer or a fix to the problem.  As a test I thought I would try to include some content that used to generate some ads.  So here goes.,

As many of you know I love to cruise!  I saw a tv ad while online tonight for lxtv.com/celebritycruises where you could enter to win a cruise for 2!  So why not?  The prize is a cruise for 2 with airfare on a Celebrity ship to the Caribbean complete with their Aquaclass accommodations!  Yea!  Now, if I could only win as I feel I really deserve a vacation!  I have cruised with Celebrity once on the Galaxy to the Southern Caribbean!

If you have a minute, check out my YouTube channel susan050359 to see some short videos showing you what you deserve.  You deserve a cruise!  Go anywhere in the world on any cruise line -Norwegian, Carnival, Celebrity, Princess, Cunard, etc.  But go!

Yes, I have joined Facebook!

Well, I finally decided to activate my Facebook account recently so I can see what Facebook can do for me.  So far I have 32 friends,  well probably half of them are relatives - does that count?  Also, I keep thinking of people I would like to find so I am adding requests everyday.  Now, I wait to see if they accept my friend request.  I heard from my very, very good friend Jennifer and have had fun catching up with a few e-mails.  We both lost our Moms in the last 6 months so we could commiserate together!

Please send any topics you would like me to write about and I will try to respond with a few words.  I did try the "Like" feature on Facebook for a few things like Five Guys Burgers and Fries!  If you have one of these near you I know you visit frequently as they are the best burgers around!  Each burger is a double (unless you request a Little Burger) and they are always HOT (unlike other fast food restaurants) so the cheese melts beautifully.  Many condiments are available to tailor the burgers to your liking and the fries are fresh and not frozen potatoes!  They are on the expensive side but you get your money's worth!  The small order is too many of them to eat for one person!  Since liking them I see their Newsfeed showing that they are opening new restaurants it seems like on a daily basis!  So if you don't have one near you - just wait!  The Five Guys near me in Farmington, CT has one of these really new Coke beverage machines that can make like over 100 types of beverage!  The machine is connected to the Internet so as to allow for easy re-ordering of the syrups and flavors and to download new flavors.  Ever had Sprite with cherry or peach flavor?  Give it a try!

Thanks for reading - signing off for tonight!

Holiday Season has arrived!

Hi!

Yes, the wonderful holiday season has arrived!  This means it is time to consider the purchase of the absolute best Christmas present ever!  I am referring to booking a CRUISE and becoming the 'Parents of the Year' or the 'Husband of the Year' or the 'Boyfriend of the Year' or you get the idea!  Cruising is the best value for your travel dollar and you can buy a 3 day cruise for as little as $299 per person.  Cruise lines offer cruises of varying duration from the 2 day 'cruise to nowhere' to 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or more days.  You can even book back to back cruises on the same ship with two different itineraries.  Many ships in the Caribbean in the winter offer an Eastern Caribbean sailing one week followed by a Western Caribbean sailing the next week.  You might even find two different Southern Caribbean sailings on the same ship too!

Ships come in many sizes with each cruise line catering to a slightly different market.  For example, Seabourn Cruises offers small yacht sized ships with very few guests meaning you will have highly personalized service but you might pay a bit more for this.  Norwegian Cruise Line offers its signature Freestyle Cruising on its ships where you decide when and where you wish to eat each night allowing for flexibility and dining options.  Carnival typically offers its cruise product for something like $70 per day as an approximate rate.  All lines went crazy in the 1990s and early 2000s with building new ships with each trying to cater to what they thought the guests would like.  Royal Caribbean added activities like ice skating rinks and surfing simulators while Carnival was the first to have water slide and NCL offers bowling on two of its ships.  Even Disney has a new ship this year and another entering service next year.

Let's talk cruise vacations - check out my YouTube channel susan050359 for some reasons why you deserve a cruise!  Follow me on twitter @SusanPhelan.  My e-mail address is phelan_susan@yahoo.com and my phone number is 860-582-0372 so please contact me so we can fulfill that "Parents of the Year" nomination.  Thanks for reading!

Seabourn Cruise Line

Looking for the intimacy of yacht cruising with very few guests?  Consider booking with Seabourn!  This line has 6 ships in two categories - 3 sail with just 208 guests and 3 sail with 450 guests.  Pricing may be higher than Seabourn's sister line Carnival but all guest cabins are suites and all offer ocean views! Many, in fact most, cabins displayed on the deck plans come with a tub which in cruising is not the norm.  Yes, lines may offer tubs in full suites but since other lines do not offer all-suite accommodations like Seabourn does, this make Seabourn standout!  Plus, with this smaller ship the itineraries may be longer like 14 or 15 day sailings where guests call on a number of ports during their cruises.  Seabourn even has its own attached marina in the stern of the ship.  It must be nice to be able to say launch a kayak or a Zodiac or maybe just dive into the sea from the marina!

If you have the available vacation time or maybe you are retired and have always wanted to cruise the Mediterranean Sea, South America or even wanted a Transatlantic cruise, this is the line for you!  Call me at 860-582-0372, Sue Phelan, to discuss this cruise option.  Christmas is coming!  Hanukkah is coming!  Kwanzaa is coming!  Maybe your anniversary is coming!  Or your birthday is coming!

I welcome any and all comments about my blog entries and if anyone has sailed with Seabourn, I would love to hear from you!  My e-mail address is phelan_susan@yahoo.com!  Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you!

First Major Snow!

Yes, it is really snowing this afternoon here in central CT!  YUK!  As I absolutely hate snow, this is a sorry situation!  I am not responsible for shoveling or snow plowing which is good but will have to move my car at some point when the landlord wants to plow.  And since it is only October, many of the trees still have lots of leaves on them so there is a concern about broken limbs and possible power loss!  I hope we don't lose power!

Looking at the big flakes does make me think of the Christmas Holiday and shopping.  I suggest surprising your special someone, your parents, your children, your top employees with a cruise as the best holiday present ever!  Cruises offer activities, variety, food, entertainment and a great vacation!  How about a week or a long weekend in the Caribbean this winter?  You can relax and soak up some sun while getting away from winter!

Check out my YouTube channel susan050359 for some reasons that you deserve a cruise!  Then call me to book your reservation!  Have a great day and take it easy if you must shovel snow where you live!

Happy Birthday Mohegan Sun!

Mohegan Sun turns 15 this month and this weekend is the big celebration complete with a Buddy Valastro cake, book signings, celebrities, Dierks Bentley for free in the Wolf Den and for the big highlight - JENNIFER LOPEZ - in concert at the Arena on Saturday night!  Hope you were lucky enough to score some tickets to the concert but if not, consider heading down to Mohegan Sun to go celebrity watching and wish them a big Happy Anniversary!  The full schedule of events planned for the weekend can be found on their website at www.mohegansun.com

Please drive safely if you do go the Mohegan this weekend - don't drink and drive, don't speed, obey traffic laws or police direction and park in a designated spot only!  Yes, this is a bit of a pet peeve for me as it always surprises me that people choose to park in more than one space or in a clearly lined spot that is absolutely NOT a parking space!  Mohegan has 4 parking garages for its guests plus lots of outdoor parking and even RV parking.  For spots that are a distance away from the entrances, they utilize shuttle buses for your comfort.

Please be patient if you are at Mohegan as you may have to wait for a seat in a restaurant or the buffet. You may also have to wait a minute for a cashier or a slot attendant or a seat at a gaming table as I expect that they will be very busy this weekend!  Take that wait time to talk with the person next to you and maybe make a new friend.

And when you leave Mohegan Sun please drive safely because it is always possible that there will be a State Police presence on the highways to ensure public safety.  Thanks for reading!
